Kashan Rugs originated from the beautiful area of CAUCASUS. Woven largely for export sale, their striking designs and vivid coloration symbolize for many collectors mythic origins rooted in semi barbarism. Several Caucasian patterns have links to Persian, Turkoman. Vertically arranged, latch-hooked medallions usually dominate the field for these long-piled, almost shaggy rugs, in which a lavish use of ivory sets off the vivid reds, blues, and golds. Most KASHAN rugs are dominated by stylized floral motifs.
